Weekend Recap

So it's Wednesday and I'm doing a weekend recap... needless to say, I had an EXTRA long weekend. It was wonderful (not as wonderful as the fact that I now have a three day work-week because of it. I LOVE that feeling).

Saturday night Sam and I went on a double date with Danica and her man B. Last week I took the plunge and a) finally let Sam color my hair for the first time and b) went dark, which I haven't done in quite awhile. Saturday night was my first time curling it and since going dark it's so much healthier and softer it was actually REALLY hard to curl! The color took a little time to get used to but it's definitely growing on me.
The four of us went to go see "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and B showed up repping my family's company! Haha. I sent the pic to my mom and dad and they loved it.
Sunday night Sam and I headed out to my little piece of heaven on earth, my parents vacation home  in Indio. We met up with my parents, my brother and his girlfriend out there. Tell me you wouldn't want to spend every day here?
My parents bought some paddle boards and some new kayaks for the house. The weather was so perfect. I had never been paddle boarding before. I am pretty embarrassingly uncoordinated but it really wasn't hard at all! I really enjoyed it and can't wait to do it again!

How cute are my parents? I swear they're cooler than me.
After spending most of the day in the pool, paddle boarding and kayaking around the lake, around dusk we all got into the boat for a little wakeboarding. My dad had bought a new board and new bindings that we needed to test out.
For as long as I can remember my brother has been good at pretty much anything he has tried, wakeboarding being one of them... as you can see.
My brothers girlfriend decided to try it out for the first time and she got right up (like I told her she would). With the sun setting behind her and the water like glass, it made for some gorgeous photos.
This little guy was another great part of the weekend. My brothers dog Griffin AKA "Griffy" is one of the most chill, fun dogs. I always love getting to see him.
Sadly the only photos I have with Sam are after several Coronas and a long day in the sun. This is the best I got with him "trying to open his eyes" for the photo. Haha.
It was a wonderful weekend of sun, fun and family. Of course the reason that we had such a long wonderful weekend was because it was Memorial Day. A day set aside to remember the brave men and women who have died while serving our country. The sacrifices they have made have given us the rights and freedoms that we have today and are immeasurable. Words really can't express my gratitude. I hope that everyone had a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.

Thursday Pick Me Up

Thursday.
Such a tease.
Friday is so close yet so far away. I know everyone hates Mondays but for some reason Thursdays, for me, are a little worse. When Monday rolls around sure, it's no fun but you've spend the weekend preparing yourself for it. Thursday comes around and you're runnin' on empty. I remember the good ole' days of college when Thursdays were the start of the weekend. Good ole Thirsty Thursday. Now it's just the day that laughs in your face while you're longing for the weekend.

That being said, I usually enjoy a good pick me up on Thursdays. Generally they come from online conversations with my best friend Danica, sending each other highly inappropriet and yet outragously histerical links. This one came a little early though. I found it yesterday.

It made me so happy I'm going to share it as a Thursday pick me up. Yesterday I was on The DayBook Blog and came across one of the best things I have ever seen in my whole life and it comes from a project called Clara Tales.

Do yourself a favor, take the time, and watch this adorable video. You will absolutely enjoy it. It will put a smile on your face. I garuntee it. If you watch it and don't enjoy it, you probably don't have a soul. (Soulless people: feel free to refrain from watching)
Are you dying of cuteness? These kids are beyond adorable. The baby owl?! Oh my gosh. And the narration! So cute.

After watching the video I was obsessed and started looking around for more. The project is still in its infancy so I didn't find any other movies BUT, I found something even cuter than the movie itself... the "behind the scenes" video. Just push play... you'll see...
Oh my gosh, the narration outtakes make me so happy.

I go back and fourth about my feelings towards having kids of my own (not that I am anywhere NEAR slaying THAT dragon) but, watching stuff like this makes me want to have like 10 kids because they are just so funny and cute. I'd have them put on shows for me all the time (in a non-slave kind of way). That being said, I'll probably just watch these videos a million more times to get my fill of cuteness.

Hope you enjoyed!
(You're closer to Friday than you were when you first started reading! haha.)

Weekend Recap!

This weekend was quite an eventful one! I feel like I really made the most of it!

Friday night was actually really mellow and I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with one of my very best friends, Haley. She moved to Madison Wisconsin a year or two ago now and between her busy schedule and mine AND the time difference, if we want to do any catching up we have to plan phone dates. Whenever we DO have a chance to have them they last a ridiculous amount of time (as you can see).
Haley got engaged to her wonderful long time boyfriend Brian in August and is in the middle of planning a summer wedding while he's in San Francisco and she's all the way across the country in Madison. I have the privilege of being a part of their special day and I couldn't be more excited. Our conversations are usually a collection of thoughts from wedding plans, favorite TV shows and of course, a little bit of gossip. ;) I always enjoy our conversations and can't wait for her to get married and move back to CA already!

Saturday I got up bright and early for a surprise date with my beau. I picked him up and we spent the day at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. There was a new penguin exhibit that I was SO excited to see (Danica and I spend our days at work watching various "penguin cams" haha.) and they were just SO cute and friendly. This one was putting on a show for us by the glass. It was adorable.
After the aquarium we walked over to one of my favorite spots, Yardhouse at Shoreline Village for a nice lunch on the patio. It was such a gorgeous day, the perfect day for a lunch in the marina.
Sunday we did our usual mimosa breakfast at my house that we have sort of made a new tradition. Once we finished up we headed over to Marine Stadium to the Patchwork Indie Art and Craft Festival where we strolled around and took this photo at their photo booth.
After leaving the craft fair I was in a bit of a crafty mood and my room has been do drab lately so I decided to spice it up a little with a simple little project.
I had been planning on doing a project like this for awhile so I had bought the embroidery hoops awhile back (they are pretty inexpensive, like less than $2 a piece). I put some fabric that I already had in a them and hung a couple of prints that I already had. It turned out even better than I had expected! The primary colors in my room are grey and teal (A color scheme that has followed me from my old room in my Belmont Shore apartment). I've always loved they way the two of them look with a hint of yellow. So, I went into my craft cave on the hunt for those three colors which, if you've ever seen my craft cave (aka my garage filled with my craft supplies) you know that finding these really wasn't that hard.
The teal patterned fabric was leftover from when I made curtains in the kitchen (from Joanns). The grey and white lace patterned fabric (which I LOVE) was from one of my fabric hauls from my fav spot M & L's Fabric Discount Store.

The yellow "Local Love" poster was free from a "Unique LA" show that I went to. The "you are what you craft" print was one that I bought at another Patchwork Indie Art & Craft festival by Sweet Perversion. I love it and definitely recommend you go check out some of their other stuff.
The grey and white polka dot fabric was also from the M & L haul. The solid teal was a Joanns purchase.
The standard yellow (which I know looks a little orange in this photo) was actually from my tear-jerking birthday gift from my friend Stefana that I know I referenced somewhere and can't seem to find the post.

All in all it was quite a weekend! I had a lot of fun AND spiced up my room. Overall I'd say it was a pretty successful weekend!

Music Monday

Lily Allen

Isn't she gorgeous?
So... I've been on a mega Lily Allen kick lately.
I love everything about her.
Her style. Her voice. Her quirkiness. Her adorable laugh. Her strength. Her accent. And of course, her music.

If you know anything about me you know that once I get into something or someone I fully engulf myself in it, especially when it comes to my female crushes (which she now DEFINITELY is).
*Side note: After seeing "No Strings Attached" I went on a MAJOR Natalie Portman binge. Literally, I was google image searching her like every day. Creepy? Maybe. Haha.*
So, anyways, I have been spending hours watching all of Lily's videos, reading all about her, watching her interviews and everything that I have found has made me love her even more. In one interview I saw she said that she wanted to have her, Amy Winehouse (this was before she had passed away), Adele, Lady Sovereign and Duffy dress up as the Spice Girls and put on a show. I would definitely go to that, I don't know about you, but sign me up!
(Lily as Posh, Amy as Scary, Adele as Ginger, Lady Sovereign as Sporty and Duffy as Baby).

She has gotten a lot of bad press, which I think is bound to happen when you sign your first record deal at 16. She has been in the papers being called a "train wreck" and a "drunk". The way I see it, she wasn't doing anything that most twenty-somethings weren't doing themselves at that same age. Anyways, all that aside, I just wanted to share some of her videos and give you a chance to fall in love with her as much as I have. :)

Feel Good Friday

It's finally Friday!

That week felt like it drug on "FOR-EV-ER" (Squints from the Sandlot).

Today I thought I'd share a few things that have made this a Feel Good Friday for me and could possibly make it a feel good Friday for you too!
1. I haven't mentioned it yet and I can't even believe it but recently my boyfriend and I were looking through Netflix and a movie caught my eye "Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey". I told Sam "We don't have to watch the whole thing but lets push play and see if its worth watching". Oh my gosh, was it ever! Two minutes in and you're already hooked. It was beyond heartwarming and really shed a light on a world that we have all seen from afar for our whole lives but never really seen in the way that this movie does so wonderfully. If you're looking to have yourself a Feel Good Friday, I 100% recommend this movie. I immediately had my two best friends Danica and Stefana watch it and and as soon as they did, they both were recommencing it to their friends as well. I'm telling you, if you do anything for yourself sometime soon, make it to watch this movie. You won't regret it. I have never raved about a movie the way that I have about this one.

2. After tracking it basically every second since I placed the order I happen to know that my Stella & Dot "On The Mark" necklace is waiting for me at home and it's taking everything in me to not just squeal sitting here at my desk in anticipation.
(Side note: My starter kit came in the mail yesterday and everything in it is just to DIE for. I can't wait to start throwing trunk shows! Let me know if you're interested in hosting one and reaping the mega benefits! :) )

3. Soooo my boyfriend does hair and once we started dating I pretty much stopped going to my regular hair girl. As much as I love him, I've been really reluctant to have him color my hair. (Hence why I currently have like 4 inch roots, but hey, ombre is in right?) So tomorrow is the big day! He's finally coloring my hair for the first time and we're going red! My natural hair color is red but over the years I've kept it pretty light (most of my college friends thought I was actually a blonde). I'm thinking we're going to go for a deep rich red (probably darker than the photo I found). I'm so excited!

4. Today for lunch I went to my beloved Chic-fil-a. I don't know what it is about that place that is so good. I mean, after all, it's pretty basic but I just can't get enough! Danica and I always find ourselves craving it on Sundays (if you know anything about Chic-fil-a they are a religious based company and are closed on Sunday. It's always heartbreaking hah.)

5. Tonight the bf and I have a date to watch "21 Jump Street". A little late I know but better late than never right? Regardless, I'm really looking forward to it. Danica saw it and told me that she thinks we'll like it.

So, that's my Feel Good Friday! I hope that everyone is doing something today that makes them feel good (and if you're not, do something! Like watch "Being Elmo"! Haha)

Have a happy weekend!

Stella & Dot

Sooooo... I've got some exciting news!

I've become a Stella & Dot stylist!
I recently found myself in the rut of most twenty-somethings. I found that I was happy in most aspects of my life... except one.

I have great friends, a wonderful family, and a loving (and extra handsome ;) ) boyfriend, but something was missing. I swore to myself I would never work in a cubicle. Nooooow, I wasn't in a cubicle per SAY, but I WAS in a small room with two other people spending most of my time sitting behind a desk with a stack of papers to my left and right. It was time for a change. I have always loved fashion and accessorizing in general (as you can probably tell from this photo).
{headband, purse & pony. staples in every girls wardrobe}

When I came across Stella & Dot it got me excited, which is more than I can say about a certain desk job.

Stella & Dot is an Inc 500 Fastest-Growing Company and creates flexible opportunities for women to be work from home entrepreneurs. I'm so excited to see where this journey takes me and would love to bring you along with me! If you have any interest in hosting a trunk show I would love to set one up for you. I should be getting my sample kit very soon and I couldn't be more thrilled!

I'm so in love with the product I've already bought my first item!

I've been eyeing this piece for so long and the second I became a stylist, I snagged one for myself!

I pretty much only wear gold jewelry these days but I have been in love with the following piece for so long I might have to buy it and change up my daily jewelry. Isn't it just to die for?

Like I said, my starter kit should be here very soon and my mind is already full of ideas for my first trunk show!

Feel free to go on the website and look around. I'm sure you'll find plenty of pieces that you will fall in love with. Let me know if you're interested in hosting a trunk show and scoring a bunch of swag of your own! :)
