Calligraphy & Cocktails

This past weekend was my birthday and since I had SO much fun getting crafty for my birthday last year, I decided to do it again this year!
Check out this Crafts & Cocktails Birthday Party!
Last year we made dream catchers but this year I wanted to do something different. I recently started following Olivia of Atiliay and fell in love with her work. And not only, does she have amazing work, part of her proceeds supports work in relieving hunger, fighting poverty, and helping our furry friends! Crafting with a cause?! I'm sold!

Once I decided that this was what I wanted to do for my birthday, I started looking at Olivia's workshop calendar... then I noticed, she also did private workshops! I'll be honest, I expected the private workshops to be a lot more pricey, but they weren't at all! AND the host is FREE for a private workshop! Happy birthday to ME! Haha.

I'm sure you've all heard the Taylor Swift Song "22", well, this year that song was my birthday mantra (+10). I made a banner and a cake topper to tie it in and stuck to my standard peach, mint and gold color scheme.

Olivia set up the table and no detail was missed! Each guest had a custom hand lettered placecard, a workbook, tools, a eucalyptus sprig and even a bag to take it all home in!

SO cute, right?

As always, a Sweet & Saucy cake was a must (with a Not So Cli-Shea topper, duh). I told them I'd be using this collection of party goods and they made a cake to perfectly match!
(Just like they did for me with this gorgeous cake last year)

One of my biggest issues when hosting parties is that, more often than not, I buy too much food. For this party I decided to keep it simple with just some cheeses, meats, crackers and fruits and it worked out perfectly. (Plus, I was looking for an excuse to bust out this gorgeous cheese board that I recently found at Home Goods.)

Olivia was such a wonderful teacher and really has a hands on approach, giving every guest individual attention and demonstrations. We all had so much fun.

DIY Felt Cactus Keychain

Hey friends! I'm pretty excited to share today's post with you! I recently joined a "Create with Cricut Challenge" put on by Amber of Amber Simmons and Katie of Clarks Condensed.
Each month they will be choosing a mystery material for us to create with using our Cricut, isn't that fun?? Sometimes I sit in my craft room trying to think of something new to try or create and this is the perfect way to do that!
This month, the material is felt. I'll be honest, I hadn't worked with felt too much in the past but, with the new Cricut Maker, cutting felt is a BREEZE. Check out these coasters I was able to make and these finger puppets, both using felt and my Cricut Maker!

When I was trying to decide what I wanted to make for this months challenge... it was prerty simple. It's no secret that I love cacti. So I decided to create a fun cactus project for the felt challenge!

I don't know about you but I'm always loosing my keys at the bottom of my purse, so a big keychain isn't just fun... its NECESSARY! Haha. Making this quirky cactus keychain the perfect accessory!
SUPPLIES
  • Green Felt (Mine is "Apple Green" from Joann)
  • Pink Felt (Mine is "Shocking Pink" from Joann)
  • Tan Felt (Mine is "Cashmere Tan" from Joann)
  • White Glitter Iron On
  • Cricut Maker
  • Embroidery Floss (I used yellow and green)
  • Embroidery Needle
  • Cricut EasyPress
  • Batting (optional, if you want it fluffy)
  • Keychain Ring
  • Pliers
  • Sewing Machine + Thread
I created two separate styles for you to choose from (just hide whichever one you don't want to use). Find the link at the bottom of the post.

Once all of your materials are cut, you can apply the iron on to the green pieces. I used my EasyPress and was done with each side in 20 seconds! It's such a timesaver! Once the iron on is on, I played around with the flower placement until I liked where it was.

I hand stitched the flower on, using some yellow embroidery floss to give it some extra detail. Then, using a basic whip stitch, sew the two cacti together, leaving the bottom open.

(I was checking the placement of the pot for this photo, it's not actually attached yet)

If you'd like to give your cactus a little more dimension, add some stuffing before adding the pot. Then take it over to your sewing machine and sew around the outside of the pot, being sure that it is also catching the cactus.

With a large embroidery needle, add a hole to the top of your cactus.

It may be hard to see, but that hole should be large enough for you to add your keychain ring using a pair of pliers.

And there you have it! Your completed felt cactus keychain! Cricut Challenge accepted and completed! I had so much fun with this project and can't wait until next month.
Speaking of, the material for February will be cereal boxes and will be comin' atchya on February 21st, so stay tuned for that!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Welp... it's official. Today I turn 32. I'm actually excited about it though because I'm spending the afternoon with my girls doing a private calligraphy class with Atiliay! I had so much fun doing a "Crafts & Cocktails" party last year, that I decided to do it again this year! Keep your eyes peeled because I'll be doing a post on it some time next week.

Have a great weekend!

DIY Galentine's Day Wine Bag

Since we have spent all week talking about the fun that is Galentine's Day, I decided to keep the ball rolling today. No Galentine's Day would be complete without some gifting! One of my love languages is receiving gifts, so I also tend to show my love in gifts, especially handmade gifts! In honor of Galentine's Day I created this adorable wine bag (with a free printable tag) to give to your favorite gal pal!
How adorable is this DIY Galentine's Day Wine Bag (+ FREE printable tag)!?
I found the wine bag itself in the Target dollar spot (or Bullseye's Playground). I'm obsessed with black and white stripes, then add the festive pom poms and I'm SOLD! (I might even go back for another for myself haha.)
SUPPLIES

Start by opening the project in Design Space. I've already done all of the work for you! All you have to do is hit "Make It"!

Because one is a print then cut design, and one is just a cut design, the project is on three mats, as you can see here.

Did you want to make one for all the girls coming to your Galentine's Day brunch? Easy! Just change the number of "Project Copies" in the top left corner. It will first prompt you to print your image. Once it's done printing, you send it through your machine to be cut along with your iron on vinyl. After your vinyl has been cut and weeded, take it over to your EasyPress and iron it on! I have attached the images so they should be easy to line up. Because the foil is more delicate, do the black layer first, followed by the foiled layer. Use the heart as your guide to line up the pieces. Once you're done ironing, add your tag and you're done!
